Kids absolutely love to cook, they can’t get enough of sieving, kneading, rolling, measuring and mixing. It’s hugely important to catch them at this young age when they are still really enthusiastic, to lay the foundation for a life-long love of food and cooking, to develop good eating habits in a fun and engaging way.

This course will equip children aged 8-15 to proudly cook a range of simply delicious food for friends and family. They will learn how to cook a number of their favourite dishes from scratch, understanding the ingredients and processes that go into the foods they love.

With the superb ratio of one of our experienced teachers for every six students, children are split into appropriate age and skill levels and carefully guided through their hands-on culinary adventure.

They will spend a busy morning cooking, before enjoying a lunch of what they’ve made. Then it’s off outside to feed the scraps to the hens and see the vegetables growing in the glasshouses.

This is an action-packed  morning of delicious learning and fun.

Minimum age 8 years. Bring an apron .

The prestigious Ballymaloe 12 WeekCertificate Course is run three times a year, with courses beginning in January,April or May, and September.

The course is aimed at anyone with a passionate interest in food. Many of our students use the course as a springboard to become a professional chef; others use it to equip themselves with a marketable skill.

Others still take the course simply to maximize the pleasure they get from cooking at home.

Students develop a deep and detailed understanding of food and how it is produced. The emphasis is on recognising the best ingredients and knowing how to showcase them.
